EDF Customer Support Fund
Welcome to the Customer Support Fund which helps EDF customers who are experiencing financial difficulties and struggling with their energy bills.
The Fund is managed in collaboration with our partner Charis, who specialises in the distribution of financial and product support to individuals and households on behalf of companies and not-for-profit organisations.
The Customer Support Fund offers debt support and energy efficient appliances such as cookers, fridges and washing machines, to replace old or broken models. There are also smaller products available to help keep customers warmer during the colder months.
Important Pre-Application Budget Planning
It's important you've completed a budget planner or received money advice so that within the application form you can accurately confirm how much money you have left each month, after all priority bills have been paid, and essential expenditure made.
There are simple and useful tools to help you. Visit MoneyHelper or contact Citizens Advice Plymouth on 0808 2787 910 before you complete this application. Additionally, Income Max helps people to maximise their household income. If you’re struggling to pay your household bills because you live on a low income, even if you’re working, then you may be missing out on additional income you could qualify for.
Debt Support
Our support with gas and electricity debt can help you to become financially stable and get you back in control of your finances.
To be considered for this help, you’ll need to show that you’re committed to being financially stable by making regular payments for your ongoing energy usage.
Once we’ve let you know that your application for debt support has been successful, we’ll agree a payment plan with you and suspend any debt activity.
Then, once you’ve made sufficient payments, we’ll clear your debt in full. If however you don’t keep up with the payments, the award will be withdrawn and the debt, together with any further debt which has accrued over the payment plan period, will remain.
Energy-Efficient Appliances and Other Products
Large energy-efficient appliances including cookers, fridges and washing machines are available to enable you to replace old or broken models and reduce your energy bills. You can also apply for smaller appliances such as air fryers and slow cookers which are cheaper to run than conventional ovens. If heating the home sufficiently during the colder months is challenging, we have bundles of smaller products such as hot water bottles and heated throws to keep you a little warmer.
What You’ll Need to Apply
To complete the application, you’ll need the following:
- Your electricity and/or gas account number(s).
- Supporting evidence which relates to your application. For example:
- Proof of any benefits and/or tax credits received by any adults in your household
- Proof of any illnesses in your household that have been diagnosed by a doctor or a medical professional. We’ll accept a letter, certificate, patient summary or medical summary from a doctor, a medical professional or a health worker.
All evidence should include your household address, the name of the relevant household member and be dated within the last 6 months, if possible. Please make sure that anything you upload is correct as this will make the review process quicker.
